What a day! To say the least, the Oxford Open was quite an adventure! Until about 9:30, our robot wasn’t wired and our team really had no idea how the day would unfold. After completing inspections, the design team was hard at work making sure the linear slide was functional for our first match. Surprisingly, we were able to get the robot on the field and to our great relief, we pulled off a win. To add to that, none of our drivers had prior practice. Even though we struggled with autonomous, our robot championed the mineral intake system. To our great surprise, we were one of the few teams that could score in the lander and score consistently.
Fortunately, we had no more major breakdowns for the rest of the competition and finished the day in 1st place overall! We were the only undefeated team. We learned a ton and are hoping to implicate changes over the two weeks we have until the Hat Tricks Regional Qualifier on December 1. We’re looking forward to seeing how we do and are extremely thankful for such a great scrimmage! We look forward to seeing everyone at Hat Tricks! A huge thank-you to our friends at Novipax for allowing us visit their manufacturing plant. It was a great experience to witness the impact robotics is making in the real world. It was really cool to see some of the same components (coding, sensor use, design features, etc.) that we use in our robot being used by current professionals. |
