A huge thank-you to our friends at Novipax for allowing us visit their manufacturing plant. It was a great experience to witness the impact robotics is making in the real world. It was really cool to see some of the same components (coding, sensor use, design features, etc.) that we use in our robot being used by current professionals.

After great success at our first build weekend we decided to hold another. We were able to completely construct the MACS , or mineral acquisition and collection system, and had a great time!
This past Saturday, we hosted our first ever Build Weekend! It is safe to say that it was a huge success after finishing the basic drive train, assembling and mounting the linear slide, assembling a winch device, making considerable progress on the flapper, and assembling a secondary drive train for practice purposes. The boys worked for about 7-8 hours and we had an awesome time.
Finally! The official reveal for this year’s FTC game, Rover Ruckus, was held on Saturday, September 8th. In past years, the introduction to the new competition has always been one of the more anticipated and exciting highlights for our team, however, this year it was even more special. Thanks to the generosity of our hosts, York Country Day School, Mr. Jim Rumbaugh, and other FIRST staff and volunteers, we were able to attend an exciting Kick-Off event, where we were privileged to have early screening of the new game. Additionally, we were granted access to explore the current playing field and listened as veteran referees explained key competition elements and answered a variety of questions. The brainstorming of design and programming aspects has already begun. We’re anxious to meet with the entire team and discuss our game and build strategies. We feel as though attending the kick-off event as a huge advantage that we failed to experience in previous years. In addition to gaining valuable information, it was fun to reconnect with our fellow FTC competitors. Listening to their questions and comments exposed us to different ideas and concepts that we may not have developed on our own. We hope that our conversations may have contributed to their strategic design as well. In short, the 2018-2019 kick-off was a fun, rewarding, and educational experience that has excited to begin a new competitive season. Time to get busy! What a great season we had! Not only did we bring our competitiveness to the next level, but we learned al lot and had a ton of fun. We are looking forward to next season already. Hope to see you then!
Our experience at the State competition was somewhat surreal. It was filled with lots of ups and a few downs, but overall it was a privilege and honor to be there competing against some of the best teams in the country. Our robot performed well, especially during the autonomous period, but unfortunately we hit some bad luck throughout the day. Ultimately, however, we experienced two major highlights that punctuated the 2017-2018 season. One of our team members, Emily Schaeffer, was recognized as one of only 3 Dean's List Finalists from Pennsylvania. These recipients are awarded for their leadership and devotion to their team and the FIRST FTC community. Additionally, our team was the 3rd Place finisher for the THINK Award. This award is designed to recognize the excellence of documenting the team's journey throughout the season. We were honored that our teamwork, diligence, and hard work was noticed at such a prestigious event.
We worked really hard as a team and definitely made huge strides throughout the year. We're eagerly looking forward to the new adventures that God has in place for next year. We are extremely excited to attend our first ever Pennsylvania State Championship! We hope to see you there! Good luck to all teams.
We had a great time at the Leigh Valley Qualifying Event. It was a great learning experience for the entire team and as a bonus, we had a lot of success! We repeated as THINK Award Winners and INSPIRE Award Runner-up. In addition, we also placed in 2nd for the CONTROL and 3rd for the CONNECT Awards. We also finished regular in 3rd place and had the opportunity to serve as Alliance Captain. It was a really cool day! Our regular regular season has come to a close but we can't wait until we take the field again at STATES in Dallastown! Hope to see you at there! Although we're on the Blue Side, we're practicing our Red Autonomous! Check out the following articles about Kardia Robotics from local publications!
